GAJBLA
Laboratory of Ideas
Storytelling – Photography – Graphic Design
We are a creative team where each member works independently while expressing their unique vision through images, graphic design, photography, and storytelling. Our art and creations reflect a commitment to creative expression, authentic stories, and visual aesthetics. Through them, we engage our audience and share our perspective on the world.
Gajbla, the house of creative stories, was founded in 2012 with the aim of developing and promoting creative storytelling in Koper and beyond, while connecting with the world of theatrical arts. The founder, Samanta Kobal, a dramaturge, theatre educator, director, and writer, has used Gajbla to explore various forms of storytelling and the creation of original stories for all generations. The result is numerous projects such as dramatized stories, the Little School of Theatre and Storytelling, the youth film Colors of Quarantine, and scientific and professional publications.
In 2024, young creators Blaž and Gaj Stantič Kobal join Gajbla, bringing new artistic practices and fresh perspectives to the studio. The studio transforms into the Gajbla Idea Laboratory, where we combine photography, graphic design, and storytelling to create conceptually and visually refined projects. Blaž explores the world through the photographic lens, while Gaj creates aesthetically polished final graphic products, allowing for a deep creative synergy.
SAMANTA KOBAL
Samanta Kobal, dramaturge, theatre educator, director, and writer
Sixteen-year-old Tomaž lives an ordinary life of a teenager: during lessons, he prefers staring out the window, and after school, he spends time with his friends. When a family from Rome moves into his building, he meets Teresa, who becomes his classmate, and they quickly grow close. Things take a turn when it turns out that Teresa is being followed by a gang of impatient bullies. Suddenly, Tomaž and his friends are forced to think about issues they previously believed they were too young to understand. What is intolerance, what is friendship, how can one overcome fear, and what does it mean to act responsibly? This thrilling coming-of-age story set in a border environment is cleverly spiced up with the use of Italian and dialectal speech.
Blaž Stantič Kobal, a 23-year-old photographer with over 9 years of experience, explores the world through his lens and tells visual stories. His passion for photography combines technical precision with artistic expression, which is reflected in his rich creative portfolio.
